Agroecology and soil health

Picto soil health

Our team was one of the pioneers in organic farming and soil conservation research in France. We develop research directly on farmers’ fields, in particular through the development of soil observation tools. Our team contributes to the development of organic cereal farming systems without livestock, focusing on organic fertilization, crop rotation management, no-till farming without herbicides, direct seeding and management of organic matter.

This research effort has resulted in the production of tools such as the spade test (Peigné et al. 2016), now widely used by stakeholders working in the field. More recently, our team has been working on the management of organic matter in a metropolitan area, in relation to their impact on cultivated soils.
